It could be that nirvana sucks. I would never order from them again. Attitude is so much better. 100% germination plus lots of free seeds when you order.

It will always be better. Most "bag seed" comes from weed that has had a very hard life. The commercial grower doesnt have the time to trim properly. Most dont bother with letting it dry properly let alone the time for a good cure. Then they smash it into some spare tire or gas tank or whatever...

Dont add stones that just makes the pot heavy. No need to do that but do make sure you have good drainage holes.

Not much you can really do about the soil compacting. When I grew in soil I would break up the top 2 inches or so with my fingers and then water. Do this every time and you wont have any problems.

Looks like you have some things mixed up. Your PH is fine at 7 in soil. In hydro you want it a bit lower like 6.3-6.5 ish. If your using tap water you should let it sit out for a day before using it to let the chlorine evaperorate out. Dont pother PH testing you water before you add ferts it...

I dont remove any leaf unless its damaged. I do however trim all the fan leaf off 2 or 3 days before harvest. One reason is to spread out the harvest work the other is to have less plant material holding ferts so i think it pulls out any ferts remaining in the last days.
