I would sugest getting a high quality soil like sunshine mix #1 or #4 ad avoid anything from big box stores. They are usually fortified with fertilizers that are not the best for growing marijuana. You also have no control of the fertilizers makeup. That makes it hard to grow for veg first then...

Roots dont like light thats why they grow under ground. So the black cloth is doing much more than decorating your grow. Just make sure you cover the top as well if its clear so you can keep out the light.
