Don't do it. That will only stretch the stem and make the plant ugly. What you want is the plants to grow horizontal and this will happen in flowering.

Well try to get the aquarium bulb on that plant as soon as possible. The standard bulbs don't produce enough light for the plant to grow properly. 6 inch of stem is not really good. You'll be ok with the right lights. Put the fan on low and if it's small have it blowing at the bulb.

Ok let me help you here dude. 1 those tips that are turning brown are most likely from heat stress. That light is probably to hot so get a fan in there if you can. Try to keep the lights close to the plants though. 2 are you using a 60watt cfl? Or something else?
