I bought my 1000w from ebay as well, I think it was like $150 for ballast light reflector, the only downsides I experienced was loud ballast (buzzing), it also got fairly hot which isn't nice but the results for lighting were good.

Yup.. I think lots of us on here are geeks at heart, whether it's because of our strangely strong obsession to DIY things or PC/Server/Whatever grows. Probably just cause we all found RIU, we all have some technical ability with computers (of course :P )

I guess that makes sense, I wonder how much it effects everything though because I can understand soil/water ph differences but I'm not so sure about the nutes and the water, provided you PH after you add the nutes it seems like it wouldn't make a damn difference anyway. (especially not noticible)

It's just not worth it to me. One thing even more is that since you have a roommate and if you have people living in or near the same building it could be considered a risk to others by law - and that is NOT a good charge to add to growing.

Yea not sure quite how it would work, but water cools things DAMN well. The conductivity of it is much greater then that of air contact. :)
