Yes... if you go to the biggest size pot right away the plants will concentrate on the roots. That's one of the reasons you should NEVER transplant right before you flower.
You will see growth on top after transplanting, it just slows way down for a week or two until the roots fill in.

I use a kelp extract that's all full of goodness but had no fertilizer in it. I think its like .3/.25/.2 or something. So none of the major nutes. You can find lots of stuff that will give plants a boost, just stay away from actual ferts. Its more of a supplemental thing, vitamins and such. The...
I guess what I'm saying is its not really a flush that your doing. Your just doing nute-water-nute-water cycles. Which is good. So on my water turns in the cycle I add micro nutes and cal mag. Then I don't add micro notes with the feed. Make sense? Or am I not understanding your feeding cycle...
Yes. Use cal mag when you flush, or at least for the last gallon you run through so it doesn't get depleted. I never flush with plain water. I always add cal mag and micro nutes on the last gallon I put in. Since it's not a true flush (lots and lots of water to remove build up).

Thanks everyone who came! Was great to put faces to names. We should make it a regular thing. Thanks homebrew for the seeds to test.

Unfortunately there's not much you can do. I don't see anything drastically wrong with what you did. Mine usually takes a week or two before it gains its final scent, and even that changes slowly the longer you cure. If its bone dry though there's not much you can do. So just keep burping away...
The way I've always avoided the "umbrella" effect is to water in stages. I grow in 3 gal buckets. They get a gallon of pure water first and I let them sit 20 to 30 minutes before I water with nutes. That let's the pots get saturated, then I avoid dead dry spots in the soil. This 2 part watering...
Do NOT, as everyone has said let your plants sit in the run off. One major point is that if you have built up salts in your containers they would be sitting in that excessive salted water. One of the points of watering to run off is to remove any built up salts and extra nutrients. You can put...

My first attempt, purely for fun and comparison. I'm a huge topping fan, I get like 10 colas a plant by topping and a nice even canopy with the way I do it. So I'm going to side by side this with my technique and test results! Oh and its a Grapefruit.

I used pro mix in a commercial grow. I use sunshine #4 at home. The mixes are very similar. We had some problems with pro mix, hell one truckload came in hot... 3000 ppm run off, killed a bunch of plants. I've never had problems with sunshine. I think their quality control must be better. But it...
