I dont fully understand your setup. Pictures are at a confusing angle i guess. The small pc fan is your intake and the tube pointing out is exhaust? Does that mean that you do not have a dedicated intake running directly into your hood?
I have good windows too. What I mean is you have to open the window to get air in or out. How do you insolate the part of the window that is open with no intake or exhaust? It has to be open at least 6 inches. How do you keep the cold out?
Just plywood and pink insolation eh? I was maybe thinking insolation board but I can try that may want to go with white plastic to avoid heat in summer btw
Edit: do you have issues pushing 85 degree outdoor air across the hood in the summer? Sounds less than productive
That's what this thread is about. I want to get an enclosed hood, but I don't know how to go about exhausting or in taking through the window without causing insolation issues from having to keep the window open 6 or 8 inches
Wow thats a great price. I'll keep that in mind. After doing a lot of reading on other forums I think I'm probably going to go with the XXXL magnum. People are boasting about how cool it runs even with the 6 inch.
In my opinion cool tubes seem to be a cheap fix for a large issue. I agree about the cooling part, but the light disbursement is going to be subpar. And they have a lot of hot spot issues.
I've seen this "study" and what really falls apart for me is that they are doing lumen readings. Im no...
I'm looking to upgrade my reflector, and I'd really like to go from my 600w adjust-a-wings to an air cooled 1000watt. My issue being that my room (approx. 10x11) has no dedicated cooling. I want a reflector that has the best cooling potential. I need to be sure that I will maintain temperatures...
I would like to gbe able to get my intake and exhaust through the window, but the reason i can't do that is because when it becomes hot in the summer I can't cool a hood with 85 degree air. My intake will be coming from an adjacent room that a buddy of mine stays in. The only place I could think...
i dont think i could permanently intake from a window because of the cold seasons in michigan. inconsistent with the fan rpm. I also dont want to be dumping hot air into a warm house in the summer. but those are very helpful
Thanks thats all great info. I dont suppose you've used multiple AC hoods? Im looking at a buyers guide and they all sound nice, but my biggest issue is going to be temperatures. I already struggle with temps using a 600 watt open hood, and If im venting out of my window similar to your picture...
