Couple things. At current hight, there is defiantly some Shade spots it puts out. Most noticeably directly in the centsr(under the bulb). As well as some 'hot' spots along the outer perimeter of the light. Also, It appears to be too much for the 2 smaller plants, as the tops are wilting...

I set it up just long enough to see the light footprint and I'm not sure i see why I would have to hang 7 feet high. Albeit I have a 400 watt hps in it. However I do see how it reflects the light down.

In my opinion, regardless of whether you keep all 3 or not, You should get more lights.... I vegged an LA Confidential under 2(2x4foot) Lights of America shop lights from Walmart with amazing results. The lights were cool enough that i keep my plants less than an inch away

As I've heard said before, there are as many ways to grow as their are growers.

Yeah, I missed the pheno hunt part. Sorry. Long stressful day. I think Joe is right. And as far as the fem thing, if you aren't breeding I don't see a need for male plants. Maybe there is benefit I don't know about though.
