My method is to tuck leaves back without removing them. As the buds get bigger, I just tuck the leaves into the plants so that my budding areas get more light. I am of the opinion leaves are like solar cells, and you dont want to remove any, unless they fall of by themselves. Try tucking them...
Do a combo of CFL and LED. I bought one of those 135 watt UFO Led lights off ebay. It worked well suspended over the tops. Then I used some big 100 actual watt CFL's for side lighting.
Simply place seed on soil and cover lightly. Water it in a little. Wait 2-3 days. When soil is dry, water area around seed again lightly. When sprout is visible, get a 23 watt cfl over it (1-2") and begin vegging :-)
I know, I know, bigger pots mean more advanced root system and ultimately bigger yields. However I have been toying around with the idea of more plants in smaller smart pots. My area is small, and I have always up potted until I reach 5 gallon. Which gives me a 2 plant max harvest. I was...
Yes that does help. I was thinking of 3-5 gallon size. That is a nice idea about the raised mesh. I like to make sure my pot drains well too and the plant doesnt sit in residual water. I imagine the soil in air pots may dry a little faster too.
Ok I have had good results just transplanting from smaller into larger plastic pots. However I have been thinking of upgrading to smart or fabric pots. I have a few stupid questions. When you water smart pots, does it just drain out of the bottom. Once a plant is in a smart pot, can it be...
I have been using advanced nutrients iguana grow and bloom in soil for my last three ffof soil grows. I really like how well it greens up my girls! It's also easy cause it is a two part. I use It in conjunction with Nirvana to keep the bloom booster organic. I do not use Overdrive.
I am interested in your journal of a 12/12 grow. I would like to find out more on how to master this method of growing. I think a vegging period defeats the purpose of 12/12. I also won't be concerned about yields with 12/12, if I was, I wouldnt grow this way. I do think it would be a nice way...
I dont use veg nutes anymore. Plain water and good soil (ffof) are good enough for vegging a month. I guess I'd buy a grow nutrient for a longer veg. period. But since I don't veg more than a month, my last grow I just started using bloom nutrients at 1/4 strength.
One CFL is good as soon as she sprouts. Learn to not over water, and let things dry up well in between waterings. I like to add another 23 actual watt CFL each week. So you'll have four on it by a month. Get a small fan on there blowing indirectly softly across the plant asap, and keep it on...
So far my oregano, rosemary, and sage have exploded in new growth under LED. My sad little tomato plants from Home Depot have required a bit more work! They were dry and half crippled when I brought them home. I transplanted them to larger pots day one, with ocean forest and perlite added. After...
I use distilled water throughout my grow from walmart. I suspect my tap water is crap. I have never had a problem with always using distilled water from seedling to harvest. I use a kiddie syringe labled with ml. And mix according to ml. Nutrients to liters of water.
I grow in soil and have had good results with iguana juice. It is a two part grow and bloom. It's also organic. Never had a problem with it burning my plants. They say you dont have to flush it in the last weeks cause it's organic. I do just for safe measure.
The extra side lighting should help develop some of that smaller popcorn bud. I like to chop the main colas, and ten let the popcorn develop for a week of two more with good side light. I asked about the filter because the skunk strains are high odor. The 2Northern lights will be low smell though.
