I am not going to use a 4" fan with an 8 inch filter. I am deciding whether to buy a 6" fan or an 8" fan. My area will be a small tent 2x4. The smaller 6" fan is about 370 cfm while the 8" is like 750 cfm.
Looks good. I have a similar small grow. I use ocean forest, organic nutrients, and 200 watts LED. How many watts is your panel? Are you using a carbon filter? It is a good idea to add CFL side light in a mixed spectrum. I use 3-4 105 actual watt CFL's (mostly 2700k) in combination with my LED's.
This is the one I have:

And this is the one I'm looking at:

I grow 2-3 plants at a time in a 2x4 tent. I need to upgrade to a better carbon filter because my 4" filter is struggling with the stank. Would a bigger scrubber filter the air better? The price difference is only about 20 dollars between a 6" and 8" fan. I am thinking the 8 inch would be...
My advice is that you have answered allot of your own questions. You need meds and want to keep growing. However you have "cheaped out" on a very essential component. The carbon scrubber! If you plan on continuing your grow, you need to invest in a carbon scrubber and fan bigger than what you...
Looking to upgrade my 4" carbon filter and 170 cfm fan. Biggest concern is STEALTH. Is a larger carbon scrubber quieter than a smaller one? My 4" was pretty loud wide open with no fan speed controller. What quiets these filters the most, dialing the speed down? Would a 8" filter with 700 plus...
I am a budget grower, so I cant afford allot of the advanced nutrients. Here's what I use in soil and can speak for:
Iguana Juice Bloom (dont use the any veg nutrients ffof) - This stuff is rich in all sorts of good organics. I find that it doesn't burn plants easily, and keeps everything dark...
I notice a nice green smell after plants veg only a few short weeks. Not a weedy smell but a very green plants are growing smell! Make sure you get at least a 6" carbon filter/fan if you are going to have 4 plants! I use a 4" for 1-2 plant grows. Yes things get progressively stinkier in flower...
I'd just bite the bullet and get the best, ffof. The other great soils like happy frog and light warrior are so high priced, you may as well get the ffof. $20 shipped to your door isnt going to break the bank is it? Or you could take your chances with Miracle grow and save what 5-10 bucks?
Soil is more forgiving start there. Do not over water, biggest newbie mistake. Let it dry out inbetween light waterings. Gradually add more water as plant gets bigger. If you get bored, play with adding more light. Resist the urge to transplant, and water :-)
I flowered a monster bubblicious plant under CFL's. I just bought those huge 105 actual watt kind and suspended them over the tops. And put the smaller 23 watts all around it. You just have to POUR on the cfl's and keep them close. I used about 400 actual watts of CFL's to flower, one plant and...
They do seem a little small for 25 days. I think they need more light to get a growth jumpstart! Remember cfl are best in 1" to 2" in proximity to plant. Get them closer! Start grow nutrients, at the end of week four (30 days) in ffof at 1/4 strength only. Observe plant after nutrients have time...
Yes you can start bud candy at week 1. Start at 1ml per liter, and gradually increase dosage to the full 2ml per liter. I add it along with my base nutrients. Always give plain water on next watering. I stop using bud candy after week six, things should be pretty frosty by then :-)
