i just emailed a person on ebay to ask about these and they said: Hi, It is the gas in the bulb that is coloured and not the glass. I'm afraid i couldn't tell you the spectrum of the light but I can tell you it's quite a pinkish red as opposed to a bright vibrant red. Hope this helps

LOL also mix lemon juice with bicarbonate of soda seems to work for smells, think big lol, bucket of lemon juice and 5 tubs of bicarb of soda and mix.
