man u can touch it cuz yours has a heatsink, mine doesnt. if you open it i bet u cant touch the metal surface on top of the coil for more than 2 seconds

i dunno what this is mate... i just have a cable that can carry max 16A and 250V.. im in europe so maybe this is a heavy duty cable.. my ballast is <=1.4A so i think i have no problem. now i checked every component (breakers, extension cords, ballast, etc) so i can make it right. so the...

if thats the case i would expect the extension cord build up some heat as well but it doesnt

u mean its better to run straight from the socket and without the extension cord?

i have an ETI 250w compact ballast. I made a little research and maybe i screwed the wires too tight on the connectors or maybe its due to an old wire. the wire used to connect this ballast to the socket is 3-4 years old maybe.

u talk for magnetic ballast or electronic one?

one friend gave me his magnetic ballast (same model) and it does the same thing.. i guess its normal.. no fire possibility imo if i dont overload the socket.

nope, the ballast is already out of grow tent, next to it on a table. i wanted to interrupt the light cycle everyday for half an hour so i can cooldown. but now i know that it isnt a good idea. so i will leave it as is for now (on a brick) and then i maybe will add a pc fan on it. peace

Since i grow autos can i interrupt the lights when are on for half an hour off so the ballast has some time to cool down or this will stresss my plants?
