You guys are used to the ones with handles. Nobodies hand is tough enough to deal with the heat coming off a magnetic ballast. 2 seconds is a burn on almost anybody. Soap your the only one here with a normal ballast i guess. hydrofarm makes an "open ended" magnetic ballast we have all seen a million times.

Those suck to here is what iam talking about, 1 k mag an a 1 k didgi I can keep my hand on these all day long the didgi runs a bit warmerIMG_2280.JPGIMG_2278.JPG than the mag.

man u can touch it cuz yours has a heatsink, mine doesnt. if you open it i bet u cant touch the metal surface on top of the coil for more than 2 seconds

Where you want my hands front- back LOL its warm at most LOL an these are not the same as the tin box you showed these are solid heat sink not tin.IMG_2282.JPGIMG_2283.JPGIMG_2284.JPG

he's using a different model of what u posted, one with heatsink to keep the coil cool

mine is ass backwards.... my 1k's dont have the sink , my lil 400 looks identical to his. I aint used it in so long i figured it got just as hot. 20200409_094900.jpgthey are just sitting on ceramic tiles. 4 in a tiny closet makes for some heat!
