    Get a fluid wet and dry system going, water then wait till it needs more, babysitting plants with misters isn't the recommended way. That's how soil works, it rains, that dries out then it rains again it doesn't stay wet for long.

    Your doing ok for a novice but expect to make all the novice mistakes. If it's indoor soil it should work out but if it's outdoor soil it will be too heavy and not work. Sphagnum moss is not recommended, work out why recommended methods didn't work for you.

    Sphagnum moss is not sphagnum peat moss. Peat moss is degraded low pH, sphagnum moss is neutral not yet broken down to peat. Don't say sphagnum moss if you mean sphagnum peat moss.

    The moss should be ok to grow in but is more suited to other species. I thought it had a neutral pH, once composted or dug as the below surface peat the pH is lower. I would use a pre prepared shop soil once it needs a repot.
