    120 amp sub panel question

Yes I can understand that learning when and where the neutral wires get bonded to the grounding wires, and learning when and where the neutral wires does not get bonded to the grounding wires can be confusing and difficult to the novice DIY. Hey it gets even more confusing when the NEC uses a...

10k Grow electrical set-up and design

Looking at the photo of the Square-D QO panel on page 4 post #71, and having never work on that particular model panel (QO112M100C), I am intrigue if the bar you have the neutral (white) wire going to is isolated from the bar you have the grounding (bare) wire. Correct me if I am seeing it...

10k Grow electrical set-up and design

The easiest way to tell if the breaker is using one pole or two poles, is to look at the back of the breaker. A single pole breaker will have only one slot on the back to engage the bus bar, A double pole breaker has two slots on the back to engage separate bus poles that are spaced 1-inch apart...

10k Grow electrical set-up and design

Correct me if I am not seeing it right, but it appears to me from the photo of the Homeline breaker panel that you are trying to use tandem circuit breakers (two circuits breakers sharing the same pole), which isn't going to give you 240 volts at the receptacles. You need a double pole circuit...

You have a 200 amp dedicated panel? What is this panel "dedicated" to? Is it dedicated to a residential home with 240/120 volts service? Or is it dedicated to a shop with 240/120 volts service? Or is it dedicated to supplying 240/120 volts service to both your home and shop (assuming both are...

You can not plug your ballasts directly into the outlet on the iPonic600, but you can purchase a lighting controller separately and plug the trigger cord from lighting controller into the outlet on the iPonic600.

can i use my 120V power cord to power my 1000watt ballast witch power my 1000 watthps

When it is known what the applied voltage is, the amperage through a circuit will be govern by the resistance (or impedance) of the load. While we all agree that wattage is defined as the power consumed, wattage can also be defined as the rate that electrical energy is transferred through a...

    100v or 220v?

One of the inherited characteristic of a voltage step-up or voltage step-down transformer is that there is an inverse relationship between voltage and current. When a step-up transformer increases input voltage, it actually results in a lowering of electrical current. When a step-down...

    100v or 220v?

Folks this is not rocket science. When it is known what the applied voltage is, the amperage through a circuit will be govern by the impedance or resistance of the load. When someone states that a piece of equipment is capable of consuming the same wattage of electrical power when configured for...

    100v or 220v?

You should be aware that in a 120 volts branch circuit, current is flowing through both the hot wire and the neutral wire of equal amperage. Same applies with current flowing through the two wires of a 240 volts circuit. Now understand this...what I have said above is only true of a branch...

Do I have enough juice for this setup?

That sounds like an excellent plan, and the bonus of having your grow rooms lighting on 240 volts is that it ensures that the lighting load remain balanced to your main panel. Using a lighting controller make good practical sense to switch the lighting on/off in my opinion.

There is a lot of false advertising about the CFM of duct booster fans. There are two CFM specifications for duct booster fans, and even these specifications are very deceiving. Bear in mind that duct booster fans were design to boost the air flow to your floor or wall register in your home...
