Are you still having gnat problems? my guess is you went with miracle grow there soil is always infested with gnats, mosquito dunks (1/4 strength) and cinnomon in your water will kill the larvae . Perlite barrier was also a good idea.

PH Problem are you using Miracle grow? Have you been testing PH? Using tap water? Tap water is naturally basic because of chlorine. You must test PH and sometimes lower or raise, get a ph tester its a must.

Well dont use cold water, prob the first problem, and dont water log the plants, this looks like a sure sign of root rot, pick up your pots before watering every 3-4 days allow not just the top of the soil to be dry but the bottem as well if your roots are always sitting in water they will rot...

Im sure they would, any place with an abundance of fish tanks and filters should have it. Its used in every fish filter to keep the smell down.

Try some dolomite lime it would do you wanders here, and for the love of god get those plants in bigger pots so the roots can grow.

Next time check your ph everytime you feed and water, go with Fox farm products as they are quality and retard proof.

no you can stop the nitrogen supliment or give it very low strength you dont want the mother plant to be monsterous but have a lot of secondary growth your going for short and bushy here not tall and lanky

2-3 more weeks dont rush these things buy a bag and toke up before you know it theyll be done
