get a vial like they ship roses and cram as much/many of the root base it add water, or if you have some heavy clay soil that will hold water (not modeling clay lol) put the roots in the vial or really wet clay, stick it all in a baggie, but leave the top open, wrap it all up in bubble wrap, and...
