i use CFLs right now and hate them for the reasons you said. but i live in such a small town that the post master knows my address when i go to the PO better than i do :o having something shipped in a hydro shop's packaging *really* makes me nervous. thanks for your opinions!

for three days i would not bother upgrading the CFLs unless you have them laying around.

only time i have gotten hermies is when i had issues with my lights. once i got my lights stable i never saw another hermie. my buds grow normally... also the delays you were talking about do not happen either... my whole flowering cycle ends in under 8 weeks. what flowering early does do is...

do you have an intake duct that matches your exhaust? if so, try a bigger CFM fan.

i have never seen that and i never ever let my plants fully veg... what ever your source is it is wrong.

ok, this has gotten silly... have fun.

the lights should always be the same distance from the plant tops... namely as close as possible ;) lower the light to about 6-8 inches over the plant tops and put your hand over them. if it is too hot for your hand raise the light a couple inches and try again. too hot for your hand, too hot...

move em closer. 85 is the high end of ideal but they can take higher a lot better than they can take stretching for the lights. also, you need an exhaust fan to drop those temps. 2 foot away is too far for anything but the hugest of lights.

i have not used both HPS and CFL at the same time... strikes me as holding a candle up next to a flood light... try it out though and see if it makes a difference.
