    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

There are so many different designs out there. SInce I am doing a living soil/Coots style, I need something with a bigger soil container, so am looking at the Earthtainer style builds. Anybody using this combo? I like @NewGrower2011 design with the dual wicks...

Man. I am aware of that. I have nowhere inside to keep soil.

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

I do have a worm farm! I’ve got some “coots mix” that I built around some old soil. Used that as an experiment to see how the amendments would work with it. I have an experiment with some clones in a few different type soils to see how they do. I’ll be mixing up my real mix next week. I have it...

Coots style soil with smaller containers(5G to 7G)

The "earthtainer" build diagram has a cool way to monitor water level, DId you see that? I'm also curious about coming up with a way to have an overflow that would keep the airgap. I'm inside, and inside a tent. Don't have much room for an additional bucket if i use the 2 30 gallon totes i am...

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

Are you talking building or buying a raised bed to fit my space? I'm in a tent. With the soil, that would make a permanent space/ I'm looking at using my indoor space until early summer when temps get warmer and then continuing when fall comes. The 30 gallons would be a little bit more modular...

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

Hello everyone. I ended up here after @NewGrower2011 posted his SIP setup in a post I made about doing grows in fabric pots with Coots mix. Read most of the thread and saw a bunch of different solutions for how to implement these. I'm looking into the best way to incorporate a SIP style grow...

    Organic grow...ph problems? calcium deficiency?

So, still going the water then recharge method. I haven't seen much improvement, and on the main problem plant, its looking a bit dire. I'm also noticing some yellowing of fan leaves, mid plant, on my GSC, which to this point had been holding steady/ Im just hitting the 6 week mark and looking...

Coots style soil with smaller containers(5G to 7G)

I checked out your setup. It looks great! DO the flanges sit flush with the bottom in the bigger tote? How do you maintain an air gap? Any modifications you would reccomend from that build?

    Organic grow...ph problems? calcium deficiency?

I’ve been reading up on potassium deficiencies, and what I’m reading has me thinking it could happen 2 ways- 1. If ph is too low- in my case my ph, if anything has been too high 2. If the plant is taking a lot of nutrient and there isn’t enough left. The plant that is struggling the most is a...

    Organic grow...ph problems? calcium deficiency?

They weren’t used that way. I was following advice of a RIU member. The spikes were meant to carry me through flower. I top dressed right before flip and then added the spikes a couple of weeks later

I think in my case it was too many things. They seem to have a well balanced formula

    Organic grow...ph problems? calcium deficiency?

Thanks! Lots of kindness for those of us trying to get our footing. I apologized to the plants for my overzealous and often clumsy caretaking.

    Organic grow...ph problems? calcium deficiency?

Hmm. Yeah. That makes sense. The weird thing is that I have 3 plants and it’s by far the most severe in this one. They all had the same treatment. Only difference on this is strain-g13 and a slightly different base soil. Ran out of ffof so used some black gold organic

    Organic grow...ph problems? calcium deficiency?

So many roads! I thought part of my problem might have been from watering every day! That’s what I was doing, and went to every other day. I don’t have a cover crop, but I have a layer of bark chips. I do have some recharge and can water with that if that helps

    Organic grow...ph problems? calcium deficiency?

At this point I would imagine that anything from the top dress or teas would have mellowed. I guess I’m trying to find the best tack. Again, seems to be just kiss—maybe just water for the rest of the grow? Those spikes will be releasing a pretty balanced nutrient spectrum

    Organic grow...ph problems? calcium deficiency?

That must be what happened. Having a potassium def though. In theory, without the teas- just water, I should be able to get things leveled off?? They may be. Hard to tell, as the leaves on that plant are pretty fried towards the top.

    Organic grow...ph problems? calcium deficiency?

I top dressed on 1/25. I started seeing some “burnt” tips and first symptoms on 2/25. After my top dress was a really good growth period. Things looked really healthy. I put the spikes in probably mid feb and did 2 aerobic ewc teas feb 7 and 14. It had to have been something with those. I think...

    Organic grow...ph problems? calcium deficiency?

So in that case it wouldn’t be a ph issue, yes? It looks like potassium is available anywhere my soil would be ph wise. If that’s the case, I’ve got those Jobe organic spikes. They are 4-4-4 and should be good for quite a while. How would I still be having a nutrient lockout? I haven’t added...
