since you were willing to buy a multi-meter, or have some plexiglass, ruff it up with wet sanding, and use that as a shield till they adapt to the light. Just some outta the box ideas to help with the burning.

yo bro, you add calmag? this is a must with these lights. I find using soil/supersoil with added 1ml per 16 oz or 8ml per gallon helps tremendously.
