The point of topping is basically to slow growth a bit and make it shorter, so it sounds like everything is fine. Could take up to a week for it to reallly start growing tall again, in the meantime your lower branches should stretch up a bit..

I like the Botanicare Pure Blend Pro for SOIL myself, make sure you don't get the wrong one. Also, i've used the PBP grow for veg. too and it works great as well.. High Tech Garden Supply .. it's the 5th one down. I also usually feed them some Cal-Mag nutes every feeding from veg. through flower.

Yea let em dry out a bit before your next watering, don't wanna toss a toddler into a pool lol. Make sure you watch for any fert burn too, I tend not to give my plants any fertz till about 1-2 weeks in.
