Yes you can drop the time by a 1/2 hr per day, but I don't think it's better than just going straight from 18/6 to 12/12. In nature the light cycle only changes a few min a day, so by dropping the light 1/2 hr/day the plant has to adjust it's carbon cycle also. I would think there would be more...

If it's just one day it won't affect the youngsters very much. Just get them on schedule the next day. It's better to just mess with the light cycle for just one cycle than to adjust it everyday.
