Myth busters - the real truth on CO2 in indoor grows

Thanks for the detail and quote. So 5% = 5000 ppm is a problem but if you overshoot 1500 ppm and end up in the two thousands it's not going to hurt you much.

Myth busters - the real truth on CO2 in indoor grows

Co2 is not very poisonous unlike carbon monoxide. You can take several times the amount of co2 that you're producing before it's a problem.

Myth busters - the real truth on CO2 in indoor grows

Without the trap you can't tell if the mix is fermenting except for very little bubbles on surface of water. Also, the mix smells like baking bread and you may not want that smell in your grow room. But the air trap is not mandatory to make this work.

Myth busters - the real truth on CO2 in indoor grows

    1) Pre-requisites ..a) Optimal conditions (water, nutes, light, temperature, humidity, medium, container, ph, insects, etc). don’t mess with co2 if you haven’t dialed in all of your other growing conditions. ..b) Temperature control with non-venting room. practically speaking ...

Anybody Want To Double Their Yield?- Desertrat's Top and Prune?

Topping and pruning - 61 grams dried Topping only - 53 grams dried Topping and pruning wins by 15%, much less than double but that's explained in my new myth busters - light thread as being due to the naturally short stature of lowryders. Can't continue these tests in my grow room for...

    Myth busters its the light

you're running at over 20,000 lumens per square foot at 12 inches from the bulbs of the 600's - so that's pretty high compared to the recommended range of 7000 to 10000 lumens per square foot. But I've come to doubt the recommended ranges and your post is just more evidence. Do you see any...

    Myth busters its the light

Exactly right but you'd have to put a larrge light on each side of the plant to duplicate an outdoor plant with plenty of space. right again

    Myth busters its the light

Sorry, you're reading the chart wrong. It shows 10,000 lumens per square footb(foot-candles, they're the same.) for a 600 watt light at 20.5 inches from the bulb, just as I've said. It says nothing about the surface area getting that light but you can calculate that by multiplying pie times...

    Myth busters its the light

12 inches from bulb is too close but 12 inches from hood at opposite end from bulb is about right. With four 600 watt lights you'd have to raise the lights further until the lumens per square foot were back down to 10,000. It would be about 42 inches above plants, a little less.

    Myth busters its the light

Now I'm back down where I can give a coherent answer. I love my hobby. You might have triggered some flowering hormones but I can't imagine they won't bounce back.

Anybody Want To Double Their Yield?- Desertrat's Top and Prune?

Physics still trumps biology in indoor grows. In most grow cases the most mature fan leaves are not getting meaningful enough amounts of light to photosynthesize. See my new myth busters thread for detail.

    A couple of questions?

You are not going to get caught from electrical usage as long as you pay your bill. As far as the power company is concerned you're just another good customer that sets his thermostat lower than other people. Worry about smell and ex's of all kinds, not electricity.
