Yeah I do the same .. It's very important to have everything you need right at your finger tips while your transplanting you don't wanna keep the plant out of soil for more then you have too

Dude those were my actions word for word lol... I just treated the transplant like it was a heart transplant...I did it fast and didn't even rip a root... I had gloves on too ... You don't realize the bacteria you carry on your skin and I didn't want any chance of that winding up in a dark moist...
