Interesting diagnosis. I'm actually intrigued on where you found that high temps in flowering contribute to the dreaded, post-harvest, "hay" smell. It's been an ongoing debate on RIU on the causes of that smell. Premature harvest, insufficient drying/curing, and genetics have all been suspect...

Curing can take as long as 3-4 months. Chopping your plant too early can make the curing process go longer, and decrease potency.

You can add a moist paper towel to your jar, or orange peels until your buds get moist again or your desired moisture level. Just watch out for mold.

That plant looks like it has another week or so. The pistils haven't really receeded into the bud. Plus, buds don't use light. The fan leaves & surrounding leaves absorbing light, provide the energy to make your buds grow.

Zip at the least. Everything else will just be a bonus I've heard most people can calculate a reasonable dry weight by using 30-35% of the wet weight.

MMJ patients can still buy from their connect.....isn't like the government has special chemical detection that can differentiate between gov't bud and street bud.

Just don't allow the bud to get too dry since that makes your bud unable to release the chlorophyl properly and inhibits the thc conversion process.

I started a thread with an open discussion on this particular issue....we came to the conclusion that the smell will dissipate usually by not letting the buds get too dry since the bud still goes through certain metabolic processes after harvest and the moisture helps continue those processes...

Yeah the bud feels extra soft and fluffly.....not any crispiness to it whatsoever really.

That sounds like a reasonable deduction. The unpleasant smell is most likely caused by the bud drying too fast which prohibits the chlorophyl from escaping. The next question posed would be: What can you do to bud to prolong the air drying process....

Oh so dryness does play a role in the fucked up smells....that's something new I learned...it's harder for chlorophyl to escape dryer buds.....interesting.

It's been said buds use some of the moisture left in the stem which results in longer air drying times...same has been said for not manicuring leaves until after the bud air dries.

Yeah that's what I meant lol. My bad 'bout the confusion. My friend has another plant that's due to harvest in Feb. that was topped and has 3 main colas. He's going to leave some stem next time and see if there's a significant difference.

I've also read that leaving the stem during the air drying process will help the bud dry better. Your take on that?

Indeed. From what I have read, it's the chlorophyl being converted or released, whichever the two. Nice to see a reply from a vet. Let's see if we can get some more input from some more botanists out there...
