I have never heard of using soap with h2o2 I have heard of using soap with neem oil but that is an organic fungicide/ pesticide Not something you would be adding to your rez If the roots smell bad than you more than likely have root rot

Organic nutes will stain the roots brown but won't make a slime form on the roots, usually just on the inside of the rez If there is slime on your roots and you aren't using organic nutrients I would add some h2o2 to your nute mix

That rez is tiny, there is no way you keep it cool especially since it is black I would get some metal repair tape from lowe's and wrap the rez in that to reflect the light so the black color doesn't absorb the light and make the rez heat up Here is a link to the tape...

Yes that is the same principle as what I said about water getting on the bulb Apparently the oil from your fingers can boil on the bulb causing it to break I always put my HPS bulbs in with a soft rag instead of bare hands
