so if i use the 12/12 method then will the plant stop growing and focus all its energy on flowering

Hi, im a newb to this growing stuff. i want to learn how and how soon can i sex my plants. i have 10 tch bombs that are about 6 inches tall and i really dont want to ruin my first batch because of seeds so can someone please tell me how to sex and how soon i can do it? thanks
