66F-75F is ideal, warmer temperatures allow more oxygen to be supplied to roots but promotes bacterial growth and can rott roots well a low temp isn't as bad but can shock roots and slow growth.

What exactly do you mean by compacts? If you mean aeration then Coco wins hands down I mix with 25% hydroton pellets and 75% coco and notice a huge diffrence in root structure as compared to when I was using Ffof in my amateur days.
Hmmmmm personally I would just chop her down because you now run the risk of pollinating the rest of your crop not much you can do besides that, unless you want seeds then let the plants pollinate.
Lucky you got great tap and don't have to buy bottles of down I always ph my tap at around 7.4 and bring it down to around 6.1-6.4 growing in coco and using Genral Hydroponics.
