What exactly do you mean by compacts? If you mean aeration then Coco wins hands down I mix with 25% hydroton pellets and 75% coco and notice a huge diffrence in root structure as compared to when I was using Ffof in my amateur days.

That's enough light to get you through seed to harvest I can imagine that foil becoming a problem from heat running those two Hps fixtures.

Lucky you got great tap and don't have to buy bottles of down I always ph my tap at around 7.4 and bring it down to around 6.1-6.4 growing in coco and using Genral Hydroponics.
