Not true. Even if there is no sediment, any inclusion of organic compounds can cause the horrendous slime to appear. If you want a successful grow, avoid the slime as much as possible. The other thing to keep in mind is the water temps. Higher temps cause the dissolved oxygen to 'thin out'...

as an update, i made the pepper spray with some fresh serrano chili peppers from the backyard and it was potent as fuck. gave the lil plant a wash down, rinsed with some plain water the next day, then harvested the day after. it seemed to kill or at least get rid of almost all the root aphids...

yeah or just forget the h202 and put some tea in there. if youre using around 1cup/gal. then that should be more than enough to rid you of any slime and turn the roots' frown upside down. cheers mr.bond

yeah i have gotten something similar but it just appears to be a benign bio-film. downstream of the rez, the bennies are residing on the roots which may be why you aren't seeing any bio-film there. if your pH is staying stable you're probably good. how are your roots reacting? good growth...

Hey Robert, Rez temps can affect pH if the temp is too high. This can easily allow slime or something similar to form, which well definitely cause pH fluctuations. What are your rez temps like? cheers mr.bond

Isnt the filter removing sediment or particles that could otherwise get stuck in the pump? a filter is a lot cheaper than a nice pump...
