Has anyone gutted one of these and put COBs in? I have seen a video by growmau5 about a similar modification on a 400 watt Mars II and figure it must be possible for the 300, I just don't know what to do. Any LED gurus know what's up?

True. All LEDs are not created equal. Generally you get what you pay for. Check out some of the DIY builds on here getting 1.2 grams per watt or more.

If you have good airflow through the light and exhausted through a filter (not ideal) that HPS would be great. Otherwise, an assortment of CFLs works OK too. In my experience, the HPS will give much more solid buds than the CFL will. Similar quality buds, just less weight with CFL.

I have an LED from an aerogarden that's 30 watts and works great for veg. It would work very well for your application, I have no idea where you'd get one though.

What's your temps? The leaves are canoing, making a little canoe shape. That's generally an indication of heat stress. Otherwise looking very nice. 3 weeks of veg? From seed? How long are your weeks?

Paint the inside of your box flat white or tape up some white paper or something. You will be surprised how much extra light is reflected back. Do you have any idea what the temps are? I assume the shelf will get moved down when the plants get too close to the lights?

Yep.

Use both LEDs. The 600 is marketed to compete against a 600 HID and the 300 is the same story. They aren't the best lights on the market, but you might be surprised by the yield from them. Run both the LEDs, your electric bill will be lower and yields will be higher. Looking forward to hearing...

I had one of my main lined plants throw a little shoot off of the cotyledeon site and it turned out to be the biggest bud on the plant. If it happens again, I'd cut it off to make everything uniform again.

You don't want to overdo it on nitrogen during flower. Scratch in a teaspoon of blood meal per gallon of soil and water lightly. I top dress with an inch or 2 of worm castings if I ever show a deficiency.

Depends upon pot size. If forced to use anything under 3 gallon then I'll add some liquid nutes but if I can use a 5 or 6 gallon, then maybe just a bloom booster if anything.

Like I said, it works decently for veg. He's just looking to get some beans started before moving them outside. In my opinion, a 100 dollar LED would do just fine in that application.
