why do you want to block out the sunlight ?

CFLs don't affect the temperature so much but if you keep 'em like two inches away then it may slightly change the temperature but hoping a massive amount of heat is foolish. You can use single rod cheap heaters to maintain the proper temperature.

42W is too good for a cFL, nice light.. 2 will do good.. just remember, you get more light from the sides.. adjust them as you find suitable.
