Nobel winner slams Bible as 'handbook of bad morals'
LISBON (AFP) - A row broke out in Portugal on Monday after a Nobel Prize-winning author denounced the Bible as a "handbook of bad morals"...
I was thinking of taking one of those sticky pads for trapping mice, slitting it and putting it around the base of the plant. that should catch anything I brush off, or tries to get back
You're a little confused. Science doesn't need to prove God doesn't exist.
You need to prove that he does.
Otherwise it's just another scheme for collecting money and pliable followers.
Ah, so using a 2000 year old book that condones, even promotes, slavery and genocide, the rape of women and treating them as chattel, isn't living in the past?
The biblical god is the kind of fiend that would invent spider mites. ARGH!
I did a three prong attack today. Soapy water to drown the little bastards, then an alcohol-water mix, and finally a garlic solution.
Garlic works good for other pests so I'm hoping it will help keep them down till I can find some pest strips or whatever.
Down with spider mites!
But you can actually go and look for Cuba, find it, enjoy some of its cigars and sandy beaches, and establish with certainty that it exists.
As for Narnia, you could check to see if the book it appeared in was written as a work of fiction, who the author was and what the intent of his writing...
Christians can hardly wait to be with Jesus, but sure do pray a lot not to get there too quickly.
I guess not every one is 100% if their final destination is the penthouse or the basement.
This is awesome. I can see that he's posting, but all the crap is just filtered away.
Science gave us technology. Technology gave us the internet. The internet gave us forums. And Ignore filters the stupid out.
I don't have to mock you.
You've done a fine job of making a fool out of yourself, vomiting forth random nonsensical crap, with very brief bursts of readable dialog.
Wow. Fiddy is coming for me. Should I be looking up some rap lyrics now, so I can understand where Fiddy is coming from? Or...
That's true enough.
And the clergy would live as kings in their palaces.
And there would be daily executions in each city to eliminate those who stood in the way of their desires.
And the people would be glad. And there would be much rejoicing.
For the ones still alive.
You spouted this:
You addressed the visible and physical size of space, incorrectly.
You talked about light being "sucked back".
A photon travels in one direction until the path is altered by gravity or reflection.
To "suck" light back from the distances you are talking about you would need...
There's a reason I put "rim" in quotes.
Because humans like to put tangible limits on things.
So what exactly do I not know what I'm talking about.
I haven't opined that light is being sucked back toward us...
I second Bill Bryson's book. It's absolutely fantastic. I listened to the whole thing on a 2000km drive and it's fascinating stuff.
Reading The Selfish Gene, Climbing Mount Improbable, and The Power of Babel.
All are very good books. Although Babel was written before they discovered prairie...
