I cannot see anything wrong with those plants. The newer leaves do tend to be a different shade.... then they settle down to the environment and mature in the same way as the ones which preceded them did.

How big an area does your 400w cover? About 8 to 10 sq feet would be optimal - 3 x 3ft (ish) that's 40 to 50w per each square feet.
