I was in a similar position a few weeks ago but instead of actually removing them I ended up just cutting large holes at the bottom/sides of my 5 gallon buckets to let the roots grow through. Then "planted" the buckets into the regular garden a few inches deep. Seems to be working out ok!

How do you plan on trimming? Isn't it going to take like 20 hours for each plant?

Hmm I didn't notice those until you pointed it out. It's dark now but tomorrow I will examine more closely tomorrow.
