DiY LED Grow Lights with CREE CXA3070 COBs and CPU Coolers

Nice DIY LED fixture, Gaius!!! I must say, it sparked an interest that is becoming somewhat of an obsession now. I've been doing as much research as I have time for, but there's just so much to learn! LED's are really intriguing, but the cost was too over the top. Even today, new LED fixtures...

    t5 bulb help!!!

I only counted five lamps. There must be one below the bottom of the pic. How did that grow turn out for you? Do the sides of the can get warm? Is it a metal or plastic can? The reason I ask is that I'd be a bit concerned about heating up plastic as it can out-gas some unpleasant...

    Output comparison question: 600watt HPS @ 600 watts vs 1000watt HPS @ 600 watts?

Uh, not quite right...You're right about not using 1000watt bulb in a 600watt ballast, but it's not because of "current sent back to the ballast..." The 1000watt bulb draws a much bigger load from the ballast than it can supply. The bulb is designed to draw a specific amount of current to...

happy frog organic soil and nutes?

Yes. FF Happy Frog is good, as is FF Ocean Forest. I mixed them 50/50 and had good results. But you really should re post this in the "General" section, or if you're new, in the newbie section.

    Best t5 ho bulb

As far as 48" T5s go, there are VHO bulbs and ballasts available. They put out 7200 lumen each, but they suck up 95 watts and, as I've read, get considerably hotter than T5 HO. They're not worth the additional cost in $$$ and heat, imho.

    t5 bulb help!!!

The "T5" designation refers eighths of an inch in tube diameter. A T5 is 5/8 of an inch. T8 is 1", T12 is 1 1/4". Nice, but it seems like a lot of light for a mother plant. She'll be growing like mad surrounded with 275w of light. Unless you're taking lots of clones or trimming her often, of...

    Dealing With Stems and Leaves?

Depending on how much plant matter you've got to get rid of, you could dry it by loosely filling paper grocery bags and closing the tops of the bags. Doesn't have to be sealed, just folded over. Let the leaves dry for a few days in a cool dry secure place, then open the bag and try to crumble up...

First Time Grow Journal. For the Budget Grower.

No prob... Yeah, depending on the strain, you might start smelling them once they get out of the seedling stage, or not until they're in mid flower. With bagseed you never know. The nice thing about bagseed is that it could be 'meh', or you could be pleasantly surprised. I had a sativa bagseed...

Cheap & Easy Inline fan - under $30

You might want to reconsider venting your exhaust air into your attic. The moisture could cause mold in the attic and that would be bad news for your house.

    Dilemma

It doesn't sound like you'll have enough time for a proper cure even if you cut them down today. What you could try, is letting them grow up til a day or two before you leave, then letting them dry in brown paper bags for the two weeks you'll be gone. Just a suggestion... Search the Harvesting...

    QUICK FAN QUESTION....

You might want to be careful of what materials the fan is made from. If you're 'pulling' hot air through the fan, plastics might heat up and emit various toxic gasses, or might melt altogether. If you're 'pushing' air into the cool tube you should be ok since you're not dealing with the heated air.

First Time Grow Journal. For the Budget Grower.

A few things you could try... If you have enough left over white poly you could cover the outside of the tent with it to both help block light better and give an additional layer of insulation. I don't like having rugs around the grow area. It could harbor bugs. If you can't remove the rug from...

What 'ORIGINAL' things do you do to your growing plants

I use a heppa filter air purifier. Does methane help or harm plants? I occasionally fart near them. (That's what the air purifier is for.)

Made a sticky tar substance... work in vape pen?

interesting, but the OP has "a sticky tar substance", not a clear golden brown substance like honey oil. Honey oil is nearly pure thc. His oil is loaded with chlorophyll. Vaping it would create a very harsh smokey vapor with a burnt leaves taste and smell. Been there...done that. What I'd like...

Made a sticky tar substance... work in vape pen?

By the time you're done making the keif, you could just smoke or vape it. Seems like the Everclear is kind of a waste of time. It might purify the keif a bit more, but keif is mostly trichs, very little plant matter. In fact the plant matter might add a bit of flavor to the keif, but...

Made a sticky tar substance... work in vape pen?

No. It'll be harsh as hell and taste bad. Really bad...like smoking leaves you raked up from your yard. Try, if you can tolerate it, try to swallow 1/4 teaspoon of it. It'll turn your tongue green... You might try filling a little capsule and swallowing that. Be ready however, the buzz is...

    What's the cheesiest?

I tried a 'cheese' strain recently...Blue Cheeze, I think. Good buzz but it tasted like feet mixed with armpit and a hint of lemon...eck (maybe it was lemon cheese or pineapple cheese, whatever) That turned me off on the cheese strains, but that's me...to each his own. Not much variety in the...

    Club T5

I'd defer to the more experienced growers on specific bulbs, but you could try a couple in your fixture to go with your 6500K and 2700k bulbs. I think full spectrum is the way to go, like PetFlora said. I have a small cab with a 4 x 24" T5 for seedlings and cuttings using 6500k grow bulbs on a...
