IMO you are less likely to have those issues in your feed to waste system then a recirculating system. Pumps create heat, and you are recirculating the same dirty water and left over nutrients compared to fresh water, cooler water and more controlled nutrient dosing.

If water temp is out of range then there will be less dissolved oxygen in the water, and at higher temps anaerobic bacteria's will multiply much faster then at colder water temps.

It is usually an Oxygen and water temperature issue that causes it in these systems. Dirty water doesn't help either.

What were your water temps when you ran DWC?
