Climate Control in an Outdoor Shed

Thanks. I bought a Sensorpush temp and hygro sensor/data-logger and tossed it in my existing shed. It's also a double-walled plastic resin shed, but it does get a few hrs of sun a day, so readings won't be useful estimates during those hours. I intend to get the grow shed up with lights and...

Climate Control in an Outdoor Shed

Thanks for the advice. The EPS rigid I see around is either plain white or white with large annoying logos. The EPX is either blue or pink depending on the brand, also with large annoying logos. I was hoping to keep the main ventilation fan stay near the ground, as I'm already concerned with...

Climate Control in an Outdoor Shed

Sorry for the late reply, work is kicking my ass. @Cronik363 that seems huge for a 322 cu ft shed. I was thinking more like a 7-8k portable unit @VegasWinner I was thinking on going with 4" of EPS rigid (doubling up the 2" boards). Will definitely leave the air gap. Does the air gap need to...

Building a Grow Room in an Outdoor Shed

Thanks for all the advice. I've started a new thread dedicated solely to climate control in a shed: https://www.rollitup.org/t/climate-control-in-an-outdoor-shed.917922/ Looks like I will need a humidifier with hygrostat, dehumidifier with hygrostat, heater with thermostat and portable A/C...

Building a Grow Room in an Outdoor Shed

I was planning on mostly dealing with heat dissipation, but now you have me thinking about heating, even when the lights are on. Great to get so many different perspectives. The plan is 16 COBs in a 4x4 matrix over a 4x4 tray and a 5x5 scrog screen (actually 4'8" square on the inside)

Building a Grow Room in an Outdoor Shed

Quite different than what I have going on, seems like cold is your bigger issue. I'm hoping I can get away with less than you. Right now, I'm looking at a 4" layer of EPS foam board for a total R-value of 16. I've started a new shed climate control thread here...

Climate Control in an Outdoor Shed

I'm in the process of putting together a shed grow to supplement my annual outdoor grow here in So Cal. Previous threads, if you care: https://www.rollitup.org/t/outdoor-grower-moving-indoors.912883/ https://www.rollitup.org/t/cob-led-lights.916870/...

Also, can anyone recommend a good inexpensive data logger for temp and RH?

Thanks @Moflow. Where do you live? Just curious what the outside temps are like where you are.

Building a Grow Room in an Outdoor Shed

Just an edit to the last post with corrected math: Actually 21.78 sq ft (4'8" sq) and 912 PPFD

    COB LED lights

New diagram (there will be 5 plants, represented here as a single scrog mass): The inside of the Scrog screen is 21.78 sq ft and the calcs on 16 COBs come to 912 PPFD which is awesome. My concern is that people mostly recommend a 12" center-spacing and this layout gives me more like a 16"...

Building a Grow Room in an Outdoor Shed

Can you link to your build post? I can't find it. Will white polyfoam do a good enough job? What do you use? Can you recommend brands/models. Can I get away with an "1100 sq ft" model of dehumidifier or do I need something bigger? How powerful an A/C will I need for hot days? I should have...

Building a Grow Room in an Outdoor Shed

Y'all convinced me. Insulate the whole thing. Should I paint the insulation flat white if it has a reflective backing? And I'm also going to throw an 8x8 pop up over it for hot days. @ruwtz you mention A/C and dehumidifier. I think the dehumidifier is an excellent idea and we have a lot of...

Building a Grow Room in an Outdoor Shed

Thanks for the tips, sorry for the tardy response, I am out of town. I think I'm more concerned with dissipating the heat from inside. Most of the time, it will be operating in low 70s or less temps. I can throw up a pop-up shelter to block the sun for the months where the sun is on it. Maybe...

    COB LED lights

Thanks for all the great input everyone. I already have been in touch with Dan and he has been very helpful. Maybe I will wait for the new CREE LEDs. My plans have changed a bit since last posting. I am out of town and can't post diagrams, but I realized I wasn't taking the spread of the...

Building a Grow Room in an Outdoor Shed

This is my first indoor grow. I've decided to put it into a 7'x7' shed in my yard. 4x4 Flood Tray with 5 plants in 5 gal pots with expectations of a 5x5 canopy 5x5 ScrOG screen 16x CREE CXB 3590 COBs using 800 total watts with 341 heat watts 20 Gal reservoir 120 CFM fan (interior of shed is 332...

    COB LED lights

Took a deep dive into @Growmau5 video series and all his references last night. Learned a ton, thanks for the link (and thanks to @Growmau5 ). According to this post, the Timber's components produce these results: The interesting part here is that @SupraSPL says 4 CXB3590s in this config get...

    COB LED lights

Thanks. What do you think of this layout with a 1 kW setup (20x 50W CREE CRA3590) in this diagram, the plants have a 1.5’ diameter and the light cone has a 1’ diameter. 8 plants, 20 lights. Scale is 100 pixels = 1'. I see dead spots in the lower left and upper right corners but that’s it.

You think 35W/sq ft is enough? The Timber guy was pitching 50/ft2. This will certainly lower the costs
