I don't think I've ever actually seen anyone grow with a blackstar 240 closer than over a foot. I wouldn't recommend it, that gives the light no room to blend or to hit much of the canopy before getting all crazy. I'd start at a foot or more, but probably not as high as 2ft for non seedlings...

I agree. Depending on how much $$$ you have you maybe should just go all 240s, if you can afford it you should go for all 3w diode 500w panels since blackstars use fewer watts than their name implies. Each one would be good for a 3x3* area, even 6 units would probably be enough for a 10x10 room...

I think its the UV more than anything (I had tons of headless trichomes along with lots of fat ones on early harvested stuff), though I imagine the plants being able to grow so happily helps too
