I forgot to add that when your plants are vegging you want your nitrogen levels to be higher than the phosphorus and potassium when looking at the NPK. Happy growing man. Cheers!
If you are going for an official organic grow, OMRI no longer classifies Alaska fish fert. as organic, and the Morbloom is even more chems. But I still use the fish ferts throughout vegging on my plants, and I use it in the gardens around the house. It's smelly but the plants love that stuff...
We did have 2, but one died last winter (that one was bought from home depot) and the one we still have was grown from a pineapple top. I thought it was a little over a year old but my wife assures me that it is at least two years old-- we've got so many plants I lose track! I couldn't tell...
Thanks for the encouragement peeps. I bought some of the yellow fly traps and have found a few moths on them-- though I'm not sure if they'd even chew on a plant. I did find some slugs around the outside of the greenhouse under some containers. Since I ruined their home maybe some have...
Good info MC-- mine has been living in the greenhouse, but got pretty beat up this winter. It's recovery nicely but it looks like I've got some time before I get my own pineapple!
I decided to use one of those 72 cell seed starters with a lid for germinating this season. It's brought inside at...
Hey man, this is my first year growing artichokes. I used a small tray, with individual cells and a lid, and they popped about a week later. What method did you use for germing your seeds? Here's a few pics of the starters. Good luck man.
It's been tough to get on here lately, but I got outside this morning and took some pics of the plants. I've been keeping them inside at night and putting them outside during the day for sun and the breeze. But after losing one yesterday, and another today, they have been set up in the...
Thanks guys. The last two have finally broken soil, but the cotyledons are just beginning to unfold-- they're growing so slow! All the others have begun their first sets of leaves. It's really not much to look at but I'll try and get some pics up of the starters later tonight.
That sucks they don't sell the seeds in your area-- if they sold starters around these parts I probably would of done that as I've never grown them. I've got a pineapple that I grew from cutting the top of a pineapple. I've had it for over a year now but it hasn't ever produced. Maybe this...
LOL, that paint ball sentry is pretty awesome! My dad lives down in central Texas, where the deer are everywhere, and uses a paintball daily to keep the deer out of his gardens. It's pretty effective but they always come back the next day. Maybe he should invest in a sentry. Good stuff.
It's about that time of the year again, and spring is just about here. This next week I'll be clearing a small spot near the greenhouse for a veggie and herb garden. I started germinating seeds this last Sunday and I've already got a few sprouting. Here is what's germinating:
Rosemary...
I have lived in an deer infested area for years, and they notoriously ruined my gardens-- especially in a drought bc they'll eat just about anything. I've used large fences, around 8.5', and they'd occasionally jump even that and trash the garden. Deer netting works but they'll still eat any...
So I'm at it again, except I come into this years grow with exponentially more knowledge than the previous. I have taken 12 unknown bag seeds and used ye olde bag method for germination on Sunday the 6th, and all 12 had popped by Wednesday the 9th. Currently all twelve reside indoors next to a...
