Is it worth building your own LED? (Smaller grow)

Some companies do sell DIY lights that include a warranty. HLG DIY kits and boards come with a one year warranty (although the Diablo boards, when they are available, are sold with no warranty because the 660nm diodes fail if the boards are wired incorrectly). The High Light boards that @Grow...

Bridgelux EB Gen 3 High Output 4ft Strips

I've seen the Seoul Semiconductor strips discussed on the LED Gardener forum, but I have not used them. I did buy two High Light Boards recently. Each of the boards have 60 Seoul Semiconductor “SunLike” CRI95 6500K UVA LEDs (in addition to the other LEDs used on the boards).

LED Habitats grow lights - new here on RIU

Are there any differences between the heatsinks on the two lights; i.e., do they both have the same surface area? Rather than driving the diodes harder and hotter on the higher wattage light, is it not a viable option to increase the number of diodes? That seems to be a standard practice with...

LED Habitats grow lights - new here on RIU

Why does the Root Max light have a ten year warranty, but the Ditto Max light only has a five year warranty? And of those two lights, why does your website say only the Root Max light is UL listed?

Need driver/wiring help with BridgeLux strips.

The HLG is a percentage point or two more efficient than the XLG and has a longer warranty (7 years vs. 5 years). Your strips will need to be wired in parallel if you use either one of those drivers.

    driver a good match ?

There are terminal blocks on the AC and DC sides. The "A" versions have an IP65 rating. The "C" versions do not have an IP rating. Depending on what's available to the OP and where they plan on mounting the driver, they may be better off with one of the other versions.

What do you mean? Are you still planning on using the HLG-480H-48A for your strip build?

Still no independent review of the GeekBeast Pro???

You're comparing two lights with similar efficacies and form factors here, not bar lights and cheap blurple LEDs. Yes the Geekbeast light has a higher wattage draw than the 465 watt Photontek light. According to Migro's testing, it also has a significantly higher usable photon output. You just...

    DIY striplights technical question

The two strings wired in parallel would run at about 700mA each. So that means 700mA per strip.

    Hlg or chilled tech

They use the same diodes, but those diodes are driven softer on the Scorpion. Six boards running at 100 watts each versus four boards running at 150 watts each. Those six boards are more spread out as well (see fixture dimensions). Therefore, the six board setup can (and is designed to) be run...

$1,000 CDN Light Suggestions? (was: SpiderFarmer SF-4000 suggested comparisons)

To be fair that light is not using the "latest technology available from Samsung". It looks like it's made with six 560mm 3000K Samsung F-Series Gen. 3 strips (864 LM561C diodes total), which were released in 2016.
