Keeping a sterile res in dwc Shock Chlorine Advice

How so? If there are no pathogens present in the water than for them to be present later on they would have to get introduced somewhere. The roots would not be providing it so as long as that happens it remains "sterile" in the case of bad pathogens. Also you could always add bennies as well...

Keeping a sterile res in dwc Shock Chlorine Advice

I think if you want to keep a sterile rez the best way to do it would be using an RO filter and adding an inline UV BEFORE the water gets into the rez. This way the chlorines have been removed along with other things and pathogens have been killed off with UV. This way the water in your rez is...

Keeping a sterile res in dwc Shock Chlorine Advice

Right H2O2 is not a chlorine but an oxidizer as I mentioned. The issue again is also not that it wont work but that it will only work on certain pathogens up to 5ppm and anything beyond can cause damage to the plant, roots, etc. You have to be very careful when working with these and know...

Keeping a sterile res in dwc Shock Chlorine Advice

The issue with oxidation and chlorination agents (h202, bleach, shock) is not that it wont't work for sterilizing but that it hinders plant growth and can attack the roots as well and make it look like you got root rot which will than lead you to adding h2o2 or more shock and possibly kill the...

Help preventing algae in sitting rez

Just purchased the 3 gallon octopot system for 12 plants. Need to buy my own rez. This rez will sit with nutrients for days at a time maybe even a week and I am concerned about algae growth, etc. It will be a 55-gallon or 60-gallon rez. I have read that rez color helps such as black allows less...

    Harvesting soon... trimmer help

I am looking at trimmers such as the ipower bowl trimmer, risentek x-1 machine trimmer, magic trimmer, etc. Have quite a lot to trim and should be roughly 10lbs dry so do not want to manually trim this. For all the folks out there not manually trimming what do you use and like? What are you...

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

Basically yeah except the octopots have a wider water base for cooling and oxygen purposes

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

But there are grow journals and people on this site have had great success lol. My concern is not the method but the results in comparison to pure hydro.

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

On the octopot site they literally say to use a medium like coco with perilite in a 60/40 mix. The water and roots just sit in the bottom and drink while the airy medium provides a breathable system and retains sole mosture to help prevent root rot, etc.

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

Awesome information thank you, so 4-5ft tall plants might need more room than a coco/perilite 60/40 mix? I thought one of the advantages of hydro is you can use smaller pots than soil to get same or bigger growth. I would not be using soil in the octopot but coco/perilite 60/40 mix. Thoughts?

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

For veg it will be 12 plants in a 4x8 tent grown to almost 2 feet tall than transferred to a room that the grow space will be 12x8 and the ceilings are 8 ft tall. However, not sure I want to grow them as big as I did last time (7ft) cause the work was so damn much and it was super hard to train...

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

Hello all, just a quick question. I am thinking of picking up the 3 gallon and 6 gallon octopots autofill systems but am also looking at a ebb and flow or dwc system. I have looked around the threads and notice people talking about the excellent yields from SIPs and esp octopots though it was...

    Perpetual DWC?

This strain? No, I have not. However, if I do need an extra week or two in veg as a result of it going to lets say 9 or 10 weeks than I will just them same as mothers until I can flip. SOG for me would mean going over plant count which I don't care to do.

    Perpetual DWC?

Makes sense for question 1 but as I am doing a perpetual harvet the quick veg time wont matter as I cannot harvest any quick than every 8 weeks with one flower room. It really comes down to does DWC produce a yield gain enough to warrant it?

    Perpetual DWC?

Hello, Looking to DIY a DWC or RDWC setup and am curious on how "transplanting" works in a DWC setup between different rooms. Seed/clone chamber, Veg room, flower room. Simple idea is to have veg plants ready to go into the flower room every time a harvest occurs. This will be every 8 weeks for...
