    Low Keys 2024 Season

Its in Oklahoma, but this is a low impact year for me so far. Last year when it was a bad year, my friends growing in town and in the middle of a 20 acre treeless field did not get it. Crossing my fingers that this dry summer continues!

Septoria on the sugar leaves won't hurt you, at least I have noticed no ill effects. What happens in bad years is that the septoria causes some of the sugar leaves to die back into the bud creating dead spots, at which point I usually harvest.

I have had leaf septoria 4 out of 5 years and your spotting doesn't look bad at all to me! You will have a harvest! It is nerve wracking but hang in there!

You should pollinate a cola of that Pineapple Chunk! Sometimes it is the individual plant that is resistant, not necessarily the strain. I'm growing a couple of children of my most resistant plant from last year and they have virtually no spots, even though plants right next to them have quite a...

That dew point in the 40s makes that possible. Here ,we are hitting 100 degrees but the dew point is in the low 70s.

The soy oil in Lost Coast would leave a residue I would think. Zerotol is a modified form of hydrogen peroxide, that breaks down into oxygen and water, leaving no residue.

Suspecting mold in first outdoor grow

You can remove it but that is no guarantee you won't get more mold. Your problem looks like Powdery Mildew and Zerotol excels at knocking that out.

I know I sound like a broken record, but Zerotol, like I mentioned above, is a lifesaver for outdoor growers! Mold is everywhere outdoors, in humid climates. Been using it for the last 4 years, you can use it up til harvest, I've seen people spray it every day at certain times...

    Low Keys 2024 Season

I looked all over for the 7 foot concrete remesh in Oklahoma, but no luck! I could use 8 ft T posts and jack up the cages a couple of feet, but I need to protect the base of the plants from armadillos.

    Low Keys 2024 Season

I really like using 5 ft tall by 3 ft diameter concrete remesh cages, wired to a T post. If the plants get big I add 2 more T posts and put 10 foot PVC pipes over them and then tie off with garden tape. I have had some of these cages for 20 years.

An interesting observation (to me anyway)

I'm at 36 degrees lat. and some of my plants have been flowering for 2 weeks, the rest have begun. This is a normal time for flowering to start here outdoors.
