Cbx Series cobs. Cumulative info and comp.

LOL  I know. I was just saying Veros only drop like 2% in bulk quantities. Whereas CXB are like 50%. My hope is the lower quantity prices will go down.

DiY LEDs - How to Power Them

I'm looking for some assistance finding low mA drivers for a veg light. Likely running vero10s(or cree cxa/b). In an ideal world pwm dimmable would be great but I dont think low wattage drivers exist(for a decent $$). Looking at these drivers. Might configure two in parallel to give me 150/300ma...

Cbx Series cobs. Cumulative info and comp.

I see the 90CRI CXB2530 are available. Has anyone run the numbers for these guys(I assume very similar to alesh #s)? Has anyone noticed the huge volume discounts on the CXBs, very different than the Vero's. We need someone to organize a massive group buy for these(drivers, reflector included)...

    DiY LED - Cree CXA3070

The Vf of the CXB is lower than the CXA, so just comparing flux(at same mA) is not quite right. CXB are more efficient.

Iv ordered 2X CXA3070 is there a single Driver I can use for both.

You are correct on your series/parallel question. But it isn't recommended to run them in parallel as variances in Vf of the LED will mean the output will not necessarily be equal.

    DIY COB reflectors

If you would like the diameter of light to equal your distance to the canopy the lens should be ~53deg. Here is a formula that will give you lens angle: Ɵ = Lens angle d = diameter of light circle h = height above canopy.

    DIY COB reflectors

I do mean tilt the meter and point it directly at the source. I believe that a uMol/s of light energy at 45 deg would be more valuable to the plant than the same uMol/s coming from directly above. I agree that it starts getting too complicated if add a 3rd variable to your measurements(but I'd...

    DIY COB reflectors

I'm surprised how low the #'s are at 12" off center. Have you ever taken a par reading at 45deg to horizontal? I'm wondering if the readings would be ~2x as high(though I haven't looked at these par meters before, they may have a means to capture light from angles).

    DIY COB reflectors

Thanks! Would you be able to do one more measurement at 12" off center as that would give all points within the 90deg light cone.

    Optic Lighting Vero COBs updated

I'm curious about these big #s you are getting with the lenses. I'm wondering if one thing that is not being taken into account is the directionality of the lenses. Meaning the vast majority of the light is being transmitted in a vertical direction. Without the lens there is much more side...

Wow. ~15% increase in efficiency. SupraSPL I'd love to see a breakdown in your spreadsheet for these V.2 .

Another big item I should add is noise. It must be absolutely silent or pretty darn close, which I have already achieved. The fan I'm using is the nosiest bit and air noise is all you can hear. According to the spec catalog low 20s dB. That Haus panel will be too loud unless I swap out the...

Appreciate the feedback but I'm certain this would be a huge yield compromise. I do want to maximize GPW as dealing with wasted heat energy is a bit of a pain for me. Also much less clean than my current setup. I only plan on moving to LED for significant gains (heat reduction, increased quality).

Hi! Need some advice. I have a cab that I would like to upgrade(downgrade wattage) with some LEDs. The biggest concern is the dimensions of the cab make it difficult to get optimum light coverage unless I get 6x COBs. Also the height is very limited so have to keep the lights fairly close to...
