Colorado AG says DIY BHO is illegal

Thanks for the inputs you guys. Basically my sentiments. I didn't leave any opinion in the opening because I am so pissed off at all the regs to protect ourselves. I remember when we could go down to the local pharmacy and get the ingredients for gunpowder. Paregoric Acid (anhydrous morphine)...

vegetable glycerin tincture for tank system e-cig?

Y You can get Kosher food grade PG from High Desert Vapes, https://highdesertvapes.com/ It mixes well 1:1 with wax/shatter at 120-140°, makes a viscous liquid, color depends on how fresh the starting material was. Goes yellow to brown over time. Don't vape any alcohol unless its from liquor...

vegetable glycerin tincture for tank system e-cig?

VG and wax or shatter don't mix. PEG or PG do mix with a gentle heating. I find 1:1 seems to be a good ratio with PG. The PEG has a flavor many don't like.

    decarb before making canna butter?

The cast iron piece I was referring to is a heat diffuser plate, or burner plate. Never knew what they were called, even after using one for over 50 years. It sits over the gas flame or electric coils to slow the heat transfer, give a lower temperature range, and heat the pan on it more evenly...

    decarb before making canna butter?

No, my decarb is in a small pot on a cast iron plate over the lowest flame on the smallest burner. I let it get to 250°, cut the heat, let it cool to the low 240°s, turn the heat back on, and repeat this cycling for 25 minutes. I have a digital temperature probe in the canna butter to watch the...

    decarb before making canna butter?

Th That is what I thought for the last 30-40 years of making brownies. Then I made them with decarbed butter, using the same amount of plant material and found a world of difference. Later it occurred to me that since water turns to gas at 200° at my elevation, and my brownies do not dry out...

    decarb before making canna butter?

At least it's more fun and faster than watching paint dry.

    decarb before making canna butter?

Do you just heat the plant material and butter together to make your canna butter? If you control the temperature it should be the same. I like the water for two reasons, one it removes some chlorophyll, secondly it assures the temperature doesn't get too high, ie above boiling. I followed...

    decarb before making canna butter?

Go ahead and make the butter. Then heat the butter to 250°, I use a temperature probe, for 25 minutes. Stir it with a bamboo skewer every few minutes. This gets the CO2 bubbles to exit the solution. If the plant material is old, it may be partially decarbed, so 25 minutes may be too long...

    decarb before making canna butter?

I am absolutely certain that the decarbing can and does happen whether just wax, or if the wax is dissolved with an oil or with lecithin, because I watch it happen and the results are obvious. Decarbing at 220° for 20-25 minutes is incomplete decarbing anyway. It takes 25 minutes at 250°. Since...

    decarb before making canna butter?

Joe, it is not necessary to decarb before making canna butter. I prefer to decarb the butter itself, so I can watch the process. Decarbing plant material is difficult to do evenly and consistently. The butter can be easily heated to a uniform temperature and the out-gassing from decarbing is...

Do you have to decarb before baking?

Was there water left in the dish when you were done after '30 mins or so'? The reason I ask is that would indicate to me the butter never got as hot as 250° or else the water would be long gone. In that case it is still good, and may need more decarbing. It takes a while for things to heat in an...

    tootsie roll recipe?

I agree with Fumble, Henryy24. I have assumed cooking would decarb for years. Recently I have decarbed first, and am really impressed with the results. Sounds like a fun recipe, I'll have to try it.

jiff fire cracker really not work?

Dogenzengi, Thanks for clearing that up and your other input. When you start with a pound of butter and two zips of trim, what is the weight of the canna butter/oil you end up with?

    Soxhlet Extraction method...

I did my first soxhlet in the 70s, and was happy with the results. But it is heavy on the chlorophyll. I am much happier with QWISO. One could reclaim the ISO by capturing it in a bowl in the soxhlet setup, but it would have to be warmed or heated, I try to avoid that, and how much water is...

jiff fire cracker really not work?

Dogenzengi, Do you really mean 23-25 grams per cookie? I use 2.5 grams, and I haven't tried more than one, maybe one and a half. If you get 3/4 lb back from the 1 lb of butter that was started with, that would be 341 grams, and would be 14 cookies from 2 oz of trim?

jiff fire cracker really not work?

Yes if you want quick. But notice how fast it degrades after the peak. If you are trying to decarb leaves/plant material, it is hard to do it evenly. If you make canna butter or QWISO/BHO and mix the latter with some oil, you can watch the decarbing take place. By the time it gets to 240° there...

jiff fire cracker really not work?

My guess is that at 315°F within 5 minutes it is decarbed, and then degrades to CBN. I would not heat it more than 250°F for 25 minutes. See graph: http://i57.tinypic.com/ea332d.jpg
