Their theory is that some UV and especially Far Red have to work in conjunction with whites to be effective . And the far red has the most (leaf) penetration. blues and whites only penetrate through 1/3 of the leaf I believe. Red was nearly full penetration washing through it.

I have raised beds and find that seeing the backlit leafs makes it easy to see any pests.

Ok now we are making progress. My point in defoliation and this is from a cash crop point of view is by clearing the bottom third of the plant we are doing that but we are also eliminating a hell of a lot of work trimming up mid plant fluffy garf that won’t make a jar anyways unless I plan on...

So you do have side by side study of two cuts from a mother so the genetics are exactly the same? I havnt run across your journal, do you have a link?

I would trust my information from the “Experienced” growers on here over any Max Yield book. They are not trying to get my 40 bucks. They speak from real world experience and photos/journals of what They are doing and have done. These are the same people that are happy to help you or any other...

If you want peoples attention do a side by side grow where one plant gets the described amount of calcium push. Get your grow room up to around 60RU for the run and 85-90 temps. Like SE Asia’s where bud rot IS a problem outdoors.

Nothing wrong with spirited debate. But it takes an open mind and real world experience to impart your point. I actually thought the thread was about not defoliating. What does that have to do with calcium intake and mold resistance?

If an opinion is based on experience it may not be science, but results one way or the other are “common sense” ( something lacking in society these days) and become established practice. Until we learn a better way from someone more “Experienced” enlightens is. “SCIENCE”!

So if this is true all plants grown out doors in a humid climate will be resistant because Mother Nature adjusted their amendmants?

I wouldn’t worry about it then, your resistant, Trump said so, let them grow . Won’t be wasting 16 weeks that you’ll never get back. Explain to me how nature overloads them with calcium in high humidity like SE Asia?

If your growing in a humid room you can get mold late in flower, simple fix, de-humidifier before flower

I prefer to manage the climate in my grow so it is at optimum temp and humidity, lights on and lights off. Never had mold in hundreds of plants, except the 2 # I had to hide in a old sewer pipe when the Sherrif was nosing around...☹️☹️
