here's the latest slideshow i made: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMWc-GnMlR8 this was basically me getting to know the camera's macro settings -- the only setting i can turn it on and off manually is 'custom' .... otherwise there's no "close-up" setting unless i use the 'smart-auto', which i...

that's me, a monkey driving a ferrari  i've been playing around in custom mode (closest thing to manual that i have) a bit with the plants, but moving objects is a whole separate challenge that i'm not ready for yet.... see, there you go, throwing around scary terms again  (indeed, next time i have something pretty to take pics of, i'll definitely try it out. you may be getting your brain picked when it happens ;) ) my buddy at quantum claims that the e-ballasts don't "stripe".... interesting, because...

thank you so much!! that's quite a compliment from someone who obviously knows their way around a camera. i have to admit what i know about technique is negligible; i'm a student of the "fill the damn sd card and hope for the best" school. (haven't even TOUCHED the aperture setting on...

Pro-mix BX never worry about your ppm/Ph ever again

checking the runoff is a good indicator of a medium's buffering capacity at the time of watering. except that isn't a good indication of pH stability.... a lot of the fluctuation happens during the actual nitrogen uptake by the root hairs, which will continue to happen until your next watering...

Pro-mix BX never worry about your ppm/Ph ever again

that and 5.5 - 5.7 is a touch low for my liking...... if that's what they claim it buffers to (which it doesn't).

Can't solve Powdery Mildew after week 4 of bloom. Need advice

also: i haven't used it, but there's an OMRI certified fungicide called 'actinovate' -- i got some literature for it at the agriculture show but have no idea whether it actually works or not.

Can't solve Powdery Mildew after week 4 of bloom. Need advice

i can attest to the milk/water combo (although i do 1 part skim to 10 parts water) - you can also use whey (closest everyday source would be the watery stuff you find on top of yoghurt). i've never noticed a rotten milk smell, and i've been using it since around '01 when i was first given the...

Pro-mix BX never worry about your ppm/Ph ever again

i wonder what they're basing their claims on...... been using soilless (usually sunshine 4 or promix hp) for damn near 20 years now, and the pH certainly fluctuates over the course of a grow, and you can certainly overnute in it.
