Aeroponics - SCROG for the roots?

Hpa roots can be steered to some extent with nozzle placement but its usually limited to encouraging them to grow down or up. I use mesh supports in large outdoor hpa chambers which have 2 continuous slots for plants rather than a fixed layout of planting holes. The mesh runs the full length of...

Aeroponics - SCROG for the roots?

Worthwhile for LPA where the roots head straight down and pile up on the floor.

    cleaning hyroton between uses?

The root devil is too labour intensive. What you need is a rotating mesh barrel/drum, a cross between a trommel and a ballmill. The cascading hydroton grinds up the roots and the spraybar washes out the debris. If you have a hot sunny climate you can dry the hydroton and run without a spraybar...

    Refrigerator reservoir

If the dwc bucket is inside the fridge it wont be picking up heat from the room like uninsulated dwc buckets and pipework runs. Work out the total surface area of bucket and pipework exposed to the room temp and multiply that by the temperature difference. If you have the headroom, a fridge with...

    Refrigerator reservoir

I`ve used a chest freezer as a root chamber but that was aero not dwc. I`d go for the single dwc bucket installed in the top of the fridge, once the water is cool the fridge just needs to maintain it. I dont see the fridge having enough capacity to deal with the heat returning from remote dwc...

Your entitled to your opinion but as long as i know thats all that counts. I`m more than happy with the performance i get from from hpa and aa. If i wasnt i could always downgrade to 5 gal buckets and cheap nozzles.

Most folks know how fast plants can fill a space has little to do with the method. If you consider a 5 gal bucket with cheap nozzles the right equipment and are happy with the results you should stick to that..

well you can take it or leave it, growing isnt legal here and i`m not about to jeopodise my gear. i might be tempted if it was just a few 5 gallon buckets fitted with cheap nozzles but it isnt and i`m not. Spend the cash or dont, no one has a gun to your head. Having the right gear for hpa (nft...

With drain to waste and mist you dont need a tote or even something that holds water. 4 pieces of hpde sheet to make an enclosure isnt gonna cost you $400. Mist weighs nothing and with dtw theres no internal res so it doesnt have to cope with much, about 3 teaspoons of water every 10 minutes...

Depends where you are, google for "root it sponges 24". Ro booster pump, wall adapter and cycle timer $40 (china), 4 nozzles and manifold $25, 6x 24 cell inserts $40. That will leave you about $400 for some hdpe sheet and angle etc, the Elite TK 144 is $505. You wont have the pc fan gimmick...

A 24 site top for a homebrew cloner can be had for £5 / $6 including 24 propagation sponges for free. The cells are open at the bottom so you can use collars which are recessed like theTK. If you make a simple top frame out of angle you could have a modular cloner with as many sites (in banks...

What is the proper water temperature for cloning using a cloning machine

Use an igloo cooler and you wont need to mess with gaskets, they are insulated and lightproof. Some even have a built in drain. I use mist (100psi) in my cloner and run it to waste, less than a gallon a week..Temps are no problem.

    High Pressure Aeroponics

If you are manually charging the tank the cut-out isnt important as long as its above the pressure you want in the tank. You simply wait for the gauge to reach the desired pressure and manually turn off the pump. I charge my 25L and 100L accumulators from 80-140 using the same method and a...

    High Pressure Aeroponics

Jist noticed you have the filter on the outlet side of the pump. It would be better on the inlet side so it protects the pump as well..

    High Pressure Aeroponics

All you need is a bucket of water, a piece of tubing fitted with a pressure gauge (preferably glycerine filled) and a shut off valve. Prime the pump and tube with water, close the valve as you watch the pressure gauge. That should give you the cut-out pressure. To get the cut in...

If the ambient air temp is 80F the fan wont be cooling anything, it`ll be pumping heat in.

RDWC 20l square black buckets UK

You can buy black rectangular flip top bins pretty cheaply. I use one (45L) as a control bucket for a 12 bucket outdoor flood and drain system. 2 years outside with no protection and still going strong.

Difference between nitrate and ammonium nitrogen

Some brands of coolpack still use ammonium nitrate (and water for an endothermic reaction), the purity could be questionable but it an option if you need a small amount.
