    Boss LED Grow Lights

Lol, check the website you linked. In their main slide show, they have a photo of a few ufos and the words 'invasion starts'. I thought it was cute.

It would appear from their site that the SpyderX Plus (+1500$) is designed for a 4' x 4' area and offers around 900 PPFD, with the catch that the fixture runs optimally when placed ~6" away from canopy. I'm guessing they don't utilize any optics, which can be a bummer if you're running shorty...

@HATORI HANZO Is your buddy sharing a journal or anything where we can follow? I'd be interested to see how his results turn out. A custom-job isn't out of the question. When would you like to begin working on that project?

Looking into LEDs but need some help.

@kmog33 That's an option, although I hear the Gavitas like to run hot and need to be placed fairly high in order to avoid frying canopies, thus reducing immediate light count yet increasing overall spread. That PPFD estimate I gave above your comment (~825PPFD) was off and is calculated to be...

Looking into LEDs but need some help.

@stealthyninja66 In your original post you mentioned that you're wanting to light up a 10' x 10' space but later on stated that you only have around 3500$ to spend. My question is are you looking to properly light up a 10' x 10' space, meaning providing every square foot with a decent amount of...

Looking into LEDs but need some help.

Lots of companies to choose from, @stealthyninja66, most offering the same technology and similar casings/products but at various prices. A recent cob fixture company to emerge is northern grow lights, which is ran by fellow RIU member @robincnn.

@HATORI HANZO Two Mini Mo's and a 1000W should be plenty for that space, although I'd like to see a Mothership in place of that 1000W one day ;-) If I've been counting correctly, it's day 30 (flower) for your Ghost Train Haze ladies. There's so many varieties to choose from; what ultimately...

noob about to make a final decision. Please help.

@Chuff420 You just gotta make a decision at some point and go with it and then your knowledge over this matter will take root and before you know it, you'll be sharing a thread on your DIY accomplishments!

noob about to make a final decision. Please help.

@Chuff420 If you're cooling passively, bottom choice is the way to go. If you take actively cooled route, with fan, then either or will more than likely work for you. Lots of factors that could sway the final decision though, so second one is most likely suitable, although the first gives you...

    ...All Things Vero...

Yes, you can successfully run a Vero 29 on an Arctic Alpine 11 Plus. Keep in mind that if you take this route, you will have to properly position the Vero 29 on the AA11P, as the mounting surface is not as wide as it is long. Remember, it's okay to have some plastic overhanging but you want all...

@HATORI HANZO Laser guns are nice. ~100F sounds about right, as there's a ton of compacted energy being emitted from those lenses. I noted that the case of the Mini Mo remains relatively cool when its cobs are ran hard, with the warmest part being the location on the case above the driver. With...

@HATORI HANZO I noticed some debris on the lenses. The best thing I've come across for cleaning both optics and the LES of a cob is a cotton swab or q-tip dipped in isopropyl alcohol. Walgreens carries it for cheap.

    Apv 12-12 ???

Should be the wires that will essentially connect to wall. Those bring in 120/240VAC into the driver and the driver spits out a reduced potential of 12V, as anything higher would ruin the circuitry of the proposed fan. The brown wire is the positive (+), while the blue wire is the negative...

    Apv 12-12 ???

@BST The best approach to powering fans for our cobs is to run them in parallel with one another from a power source, which in your case is a MeanWell APV-12-12. The APV-12-12 will offer 12V/1A or 12W to play with. By running your fans in parallel, you get the benefit of running them each at...
