Sorry, I overlooked this comment. Wasn't ignoring it. While IR is more readily absorbed by more molecules, it doesn't have any more energy to "heat" anything moreso than say blue light or green light. The spectrum of light doesn't correlate to the heat it makes, rather it denotes the frequency...

The end of LED is nigh. Incandescent will rise again.

Well, somehow that table got all fuckered up when I posted it....

The end of LED is nigh. Incandescent will rise again.

From Wikipedia... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luminous_efficacy "The following table lists luminous efficacy of a source and efficiency for various light sources. Note that all lamps requiring electrical/electronic ballast are unless noted (see also voltage) listed without losses for...

Don't those "54w" bulbs pull more juice than that at the wall?

Well thank you for actually making a decent argument! Now, if you could avoid being such a condescending egotistical prick, these discussions might be more productive and less troll-ish. White Cobs, specifically 3K-4K Temp, are delivering more radiant energy per watt in the visible spectrum...

"Infrared light is certainly not any hotter than visible light. On the contrary, the same number of infrared photons carry a lot less heat than visible light photons. What is the hottest object with which we are all familiar? Why, the Sun of course. And guess what... most of the Sun's heat...

Hahaha  You haven't proven anything. Either test a COB personally and post the results to back your "claims" or post a study that actually compares white light LED to HID. Not the Blurple lights you keep referring to and citing.

Somebody should do a side by side, and put this debate to rest. Not really sure how the laws of thermodynamics have any gray areas....

The end of LED is nigh. Incandescent will rise again.

IMO, RH/temp concerns are a direct issue of sealed/unsealed. And also how well the grow space is constructed. Seal an environment with lights and plants. The RH and ambient temp will surely rise until either exhausted or mitigated.

Pretty much what most of it looked like... Far from a perfect round with LOTs of room for improvement with both quality and yield.

Not trying to knock your yield at all... 1.75 is awesome for that short of veg. Props for that! Just thinking out loud.. If you had a better light source what could you pull? That was the question that drove me to building DIY lights.

All competition aside, if you were just looking to improve your personal best, I feel that with a proper COB setup you would be doing well over 2 without changing a damn thing. Same or less watts.

Of course. The plants were in veg for 8 weeks, but this was by accident. Building a 50 COB fixture is no simple task, and took longer than estimated. Training consisted of topping the plants as frequently as possible because they were getting too big and the light wasn't ready. The plants were...

No, I haven't done a journal or anything. But I have been telling people about what I plan on doing, and posting pictures in different threads along the way. I believe I already referenced my results in this thread a few times. And yes, in my circles at least, it was some record setting shit...
