How long does your super soil last?

This is correct as long as you are not dumping bottled nutes on your soil, or doing something stupid like a friend I know and dumping a cup of time released fertilizer per 5 gallon pot 20 days before harvest (neither of which I think flushing helps). This is a blood orange that is going...

Recycled Organic Living Soil (ROLS) and No Till Thread

These beds are full of worms. The calcium carbonate from their slime, crab meal, oyster shell, etc supply the calcium. I've notilled in 10 & 15 gallon pots and it was a little more difficult to keep them happy imo. Peace, P-

How long does your super soil last?

Your supersoil should not 'die out' before harvesting. Chances are you have something else going on. People like myself can use the same soil over and over without adding much of anything to it. I leave the flushing and fading talk for when I have to strike up a conversation with the clerk at...

Recycled Organic Living Soil (ROLS) and No Till Thread

Thanks ShLUby! There has been no amending and very little top dressing for the the last four rounds. I think I topdressed 1/4c kelp and 1/4c neem per 100 gallon bed after the last round. Then a good layer of EWC, new mulch, cover crop, called it a day! To help with transplant shock, they were...

Recycled Organic Living Soil (ROLS) and No Till Thread

Thanks ADT! I was a little concerned because I didn't tend to the beds as diligently inbetween rounds. A couple act's, some kelp they don't seem to mind thus far. ;) Thanks man! I give the credit to aloe and water foliars! :) This is a Pura Vida from Bodhi. Peace! P-

Anyone use a concrete mixer for soil?

I thought about renting a bobcat, I just wasn't sure how well I would be able to mix with it? Can I ask how much you mix up, and approx how long it takes you? Many thanks! P-

Anyone use a concrete mixer for soil?

What's everyone using to mix up say 30 yards or so of soil? One of these concrete mixers? P-

What is the " secret " to grow pungent, top shelf OG ?

@samourai888 thems be some crispy looking critters. I'm going to really recommend you start reading and learn how to build a good living organic soil. The first several pages of the ROLS thread is a good place to start. There are lots of smart people on this site that will help point you in the...

What is the " secret " to grow pungent, top shelf OG ?

It's a marketing technique to sell more... This is like Dank OG man! LOL! Not saying there isn't some really good weed with OG in the name, but come on. P-

What is the " secret " to grow pungent, top shelf OG ?

I think the growing method has a huge impact on flavor and taste (as well as the curing proceedure). I concur on reading the notill thread, it will get you started down the right path for creating your own soil. I would stop buying cali connection genetics immediately. I never ran anything...

    Aloe in compost tea?

Lmfao! Yes Grease, you are very correct, barley, not barely! Wait, me?... smoke weed... nah! Well, at least not at 14,270 feet! LOL! I had good wind protection. I'm almost thinking there may not have been enough O2? Someone has to make a lighter that will work in the alpine tundra! :mrgreen...

    Compost starter to make tea?

My sincere apologies. Didn't mean to get anyone's panties in a twist. I capitalized kelp meal, because if it doesn't say that, then it's not. Many people do not understand the difference. If you have kelp meal and you want to foliar, I mix about 1/4c kelp meal with about 1/2c water. Let sit...

    Aloe in compost tea?

Mix 2 tsp neem in a shot glass (or something similar) with 1 tsp of pro-tekt. Mix until turns opaque. Add to 75-85 degree water that already contains your aloe. Stir/shake the hell out of it, use immediately. I have been known to blend a little fresh rosemary, mint, etc in with the water. ;)...

    Compost starter to make tea?

LMFAO! One pound of Kelp meal for $20-25!!!! Holy F($*%!!!! I would not buy anything labeled seaweed extract. These are made with potassium hydroxide and/or sodium hydroxide. Go to your local farm supply store and pick up a 50# sack of KELP MEAL for around $60. Worst case senario, you can buy...

    Aloe in compost tea?

This would make sense considering aloe's ability to increase a plant's SAR. In addition, the pro-tekt is going to make the cell walls stronger, making it more difficult for mites to puncture the leaves and suck the juices. Aloe and pro-tekt foliars are common practice in my garden as well...

    Aloe in compost tea?

If you are going to add aloe to an act, do so right before you water (per MM). And yes, I try and eyeball about 1oz goo per gallon of water, but I don't measure. P-

    Epsom Salts/ Molasses

Imo molasses has the ability to breed both good and bad micro-organisms. You want to make sure you are using it properly. I kind of agree with Grease that I don't like it as an add to water and pour kind of amendment. I only use it as a food source for microbes. I'm really not a fan of epsom...

3 1/2 year old compost dry, still good?

The humus/organic materal is still there, microbes population is greatly diminished. I'd brew up a heavy EWC tea (or a couple) and start rehydrating. Then it would be a good idea to plant a cover crop in it and get the nutrients cycling. Peace! P-
