    Organic Grow Questions

Plants actually help each other out by sharing exudes, warning each other of danger, etc. It's a good thing to have plants working in symbiosis. Just take a look at nature, or as you said the entire concept behind companion planting. Lol Grease, I have that happen in the wormbin all the time...

@zonderkop that's a nice overview! Is this a book you wrote? I'm curious about this part: The mineral mix can be exclusively glacial rock dust No more than 1 cup each of other rock dusts (basalt, etc.) for each cubic foot of Base Mix Why can the mix be exclusively GRD, but not all basalt...

Why is it bad to use alfalfa in tea during late flower?

To speed it up I would hydrate the kelp, puree, add with alfalfa and bubble for 24 hours. I don't know if your idea to add in an act would speed it up or not, but I can't imagine it would hurt. The other thing I would do is apply enzyme teas. This will also help in the breaking down process. P-

Just a thought, but you could check your local landscape yard for some granite crusher fines. This will add some benefits you will not get from zeolite, SRP, greensand, etc. I'm curious about Zeolite being an aluminasilicate. I'm pretty sure using fulpower could actually chelate some of the...

Imo DE is not going to be a substantial source of silica. It's going to take too long to become available. Protekt or agsil would be a better choice. Just my 2¢, P-

Why is it bad to use alfalfa in tea during late flower?

I'm sorry, I don't understand? What is your question? 100 ways to skin a cat, but I keep my acts and nutrient teas separate. I always use a recipe at half strength and work up just to make sure. With that said, I've used 1c alfalfa and 1/2c kelp per 5 gallons many times without issue. Peace! P-

Why is it bad to use alfalfa in tea during late flower?

Coot said you can use alfalfa later in flower. However, he said he promotes kelp, that doesn't mean add 33% kelp in your soil mix. Use some common sense. Don't be doing something dumb like adding synthetic TRIA - that can screw things up in a hurry if you don't know what you're doing. @DonTesla...

For thrips I've successfully used neem cake top dress, neem oil spray. If by some chance neem oil foliar doesn't work, or if you want to go straight to the big guns, spinosad wipes em out. Use spinosad with caution. Karanja can be substituted for neem. Calling Oakerdamn a horticulture program...

I'll attach a pdf that should give more insight into DE. DE kills insects by absorbing the oils off of the insects, and is least effective in a moist environment: From the PDF: The DE becomes ineffective in a moist environment, not because water fouls or saturates the absorptive surface, but...
